Power

Most houses in Australia typically have two power circuits.

Generally older houses would have one circuit, due to the low numbr of appliances people owned at the time.

More modern houses may have three or more power circuits, due to the increased size of modern houses and the number of appliances typically found in a house nowadays.

Australian Standards AS3000 does not set a limit on the number of power points attached to a circuit, but for reliable operation you may need to consider having an appropriate number of circuits to successfully power your appliances, without nuisance tripping of the circuit breaker.

As an example if you were to use your 2000 watt jug whilst also using your 1000 watt toaster you would be drawing 3000 watts from a circuit designed to reliable supply 2400 watts.
